Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion
Our PTA is steadfast in its commitment to our diversity, equity, & inclusion programming. Our goal is to foster a space that is not only inclusive, but actively affirming of the diverse identities and lived experiences within our school and we would love for you to be a part of this initiative!
Our DEI Committee has been a beacon of fun and diverse programming for our students, growing and expanding each year. We are so proud of the opportunities to showcase & support diversity. We are always on the hunt for new ideas on diversity & inclusion enrichment and fresh voices to make Delevan a safe and inclusive space for all. Check out what we have done so far!
dia de los muertos
Our Dia De Los Muertos altar is our largest installation, growing every year. What started in the backstop in the recess yard took our breath away last year with a fully immersive ofrenda experience. This incredible sight showcases student artwork, culture, and memories of loved ones from the Delevan community.
school-wide Hula Dancing lesson celebrating our new ib status
When Delevan finally reached its goal of achieving International Baccalaureate status, the school decided to celebrate with a program and open invite to parents to come learn all the IB tenets. It was planned for May - Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month - so we suggested a Hula theme to lift up the IB ideal of global-minded education. We brought in a Hula instructor to teach all those attending a beautiful dance to celebrate!
Navigating neurodiversity parent/caregiver meetups
With two meetups under our belts beginning at the end of the 24-25 school year, we are ready to hit the ground running, providing more opportunity for creating this community.
