so we’ve heard the announcements, but what exactly is koalathon?

Every year, our Delevan community comes together for the most epic online crowdfunding campaign and our largest annual fundraiser, KOALATHON! This event runs over the course of 3 weeks, keeping up the momentum with milestone prizes & ongoing rally events. Students will have a personalized webpage & there will be incentives for everyone as we meet specific goals! Who doesn’t love popsicle parties & extra recess, am I right??

In the past 2 years, we have met (& exceeded) our overall goals & earned school visits from a Space Scientist & an Olympian!

Last year, our theme was “Koalaympics” & each classroom created a flag celebrating an IB tenet!

As our primary income-generating event, we execute this event every Fall to raise funds to enhance, enrich, and elevate the Delevan student experience! We are also also asked to fill the LAUSD Allocation funding gap each year, which topped $52,981 when it was requested in May for this current school year. In addition to this gap-funding, our fundraising efforts provide programming & enrichment like our campus Garden programs, After School Clubs, Skate Night, Harvest Festival, our DEI events & initiatives, family meetups, community engagement events, teacher & staff appreciation, Family Dance, classroom materials, literacy & mathematics software, & so much more!

This year’s theme is an “Olympics” Koalathon, inspired by our recent summer competitions. We challenged each of the school’s classrooms to create a flag with their own key idea that represents them during Koalathon. Classrooms are then challenged to raise funds, competing with each other’s classes to see who can come out on top! Of course, it’s all in good fun, but there are incentives awarded to the top classroom earners.
