Interested in Volunteering?
Let us know how you want to be involved this year! What are you interested in? What do you like to do? Or do you have a broad general interest in helping and want to know what options even exist? One of our goals this year is to build out a robust committee system. We know signing up to chair an event or lead a group can be daunting, and we want to make sure everyone feels supported and is operating within their executable bandwidth. Share your interests with us and we can match you to a committee that would be a good fit.
Open Positions for 2026-2027 PTA
Harvest Fest Co Chair
We are seeking a Co Chair for our annual event, Harvest Fest! Our president and HF Chair, Stephanie, has organized and run this event for the past 2 years, so there is a stout plan in place for the planning and execution - as well as vendors lined up. Construction on campus means the person in this role and Stephanie will work with Delevan administration on how to maximize campus use and adjust the event to meet the needs of everyone. Other duties include: coordinating with our DEI committee on on our cultural installations for Dia de los Muertos and Diwalli, coordinating with our Campus Greenification Co Chairs on the Haunted House in the Garden, and day of event support and leadership.
Commitment: August-November, 0-3 hours per week, 12 weeks. Day of Event support required: Friday, October 24, 2025
Fundraising Committee
Help put the “fun” into fundraising. We are looking for volunteers to fill out this committee in support of our Fundraising Chairs. Help us tackle our $152,000 goal for this year, by lending your time and talent to some new initiatives, as well as 2 new classics, our Fund Photo campaign and Delevan Dodgers Day! Koalathon, our biggest fundraiser of the year, Sponsorship, and our Dine-Out campaign all have individual Chairs, but our Fundraising Committee will work in tandem with those campaigns in terms of messaging and support as they are able.
Commitment: As much or as little involvement as you’d like throughout the school year.
Campus Greenification Committee
Do you have a green thumb? We need you! Our Campus Greenification Team and Garden Club are looking for support. Despite the bulldozers and construction in the back, Delevan’s garden is alive and thriving. However, we need more help with watering, weeding, supporting Garden Club meetups after school, and promoting Earth Day as a year-round event.
Sign up to volunteer on-campus or even around campus:
A. Organizing a clean-up day around perimeter of the school
B. Watering our beds & trees, light weeding, planting as needed
Requirement: LAUSD Volunteer clearance.
C. Assisting Garden Club after-school in preparing activities.
D. Earth Day activities in April 2025.
Commitment: As much or as little involvement as you’d like. Year-round.
Diversity, Equity + Inclusion Committee (DEI)
Our PTA has doubled down on its commitment to our DEI programming. Our goal is to foster a space that is not only inclusive, but actively affirming of the diverse identities and lived experiences within our school and we would love for you to be a part of this initiative! Our DEI Committee has been a beacon of fun and diverse programming for our students, growing and expanding each year. Some examples of past programming include: our Dia de los Muertos altar, an assembly uplifting AAPI voices in art and animation, a Diwali installation at Harvest Fest, LGBTQIA+ community meetup, Lion dancing assemblies for Lunar New Year, a school visit from disabilities advocate Lucy Meyer, a book drive to stock our school library for Hispanic Heritage Month, neurodiversity caregiver meetups, an assembly on the Black origins of country music (featuring Beyonce’s hit Texas Hold’em) for Black History month, and a Holi powder toss at Family Dance.
We are always on the hunt for new ideas on diversity & inclusion enrichment and fresh voices to make Delevan a safe and inclusive space for all.
This committee is active all school year long, but if you have a specific new or existing DEI initiative that you are passionate about, your support of that one event or celebration makes you an excellent candidate to join us!
Commitment: School Year Round, 0-3 hours per week, Day of Event support as needed
Delevan 100 Committee
We are seeking committee support for our Delevan 100 initiative! Delevan Drive Elementary opened its doors on July 1, 1926. Over the course of the next 2 school years, we are going to host multiple on campus events, spirit days, parent/family meetups, assemblies, & more to celebrate this momentous occasion and we need your help to do it! We need ideas brainstorming, event support, teams to coordinate with teachers and staff, decorating, material gathering, etc. Supporting this committee can be flexible within your executable bandwidth!
JOIN US IN COMMEMORATING OUR CENTENNIAL!
Commitment: Be as involved as you can be throughout the next 2 school years! August 2025-December 2026, 0-3 hours per week, Day of Event support as needed for initiative events.
Delevan Volunteer Opportunities
