Since 2012, Delevan 6th graders have attended the LA County Outdoor Science Schools’ 4-5 day program in Wrightwood, CA. We are hoping our Delevan Class of 2023 will be the first to attend since the start of COVID in 2020. In years past, 6th Grade families raised money to subsidize the $500/student cost by selling popsicles after school and selling concessions at school events. Because of COVID restrictions and LAUSD rules this will probably not be possible this year so we are looking for alternate ways to make sure every Delevan student gets the opportunity to attend this most-loved Delevan experience.

Delevan 6th Grade Parents’ aim is to ensure that all 6th graders can attend the Science School trip in February. We start by fundraising for the entire 6th grade to cover the cost of Science School and transportation to and from the Outdoor Science School in Wrightwood, CA. As a Title I school, we would like to ease the burden of cost so all our 6th graders can afford to attend. We would like to subsidize the entire cost of Science School for those that qualify. We will do this by seeking sponsorships and grants, holding fundraising events, and selling food (if allowed) and priority seating at On-Campus events like Open House and Holiday Performances.
